Pastor Joseph Jung is the senior pastor of Summerside United Methodist Church and he devotes most of his time to making sure our ministry is the best it can be. It is indeed his privilege to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to serve the people of God at Summerside UMC. He believes that he is being sent here by God to lead the congregation to carry out its mission of making and equipping disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. Joseph was born and grew up in South Korea and went to undergraduate school at the Methodist Theological Seminary in Seoul. There, he earned his Masters of Divinity degree from Saint Paul School of Theology in Kansas City. It was his great honor to translate and revise the 2004 Korean Edition of The Book of Discipline of the United Methodist Church (United Methodist Publishing House, 2004), supervised by Dr. Chan-Hie Kim, who is one of the retired professors from Claremont Graduate University.
He began his ministry as a pastor of youth and college ministries in 1993. Student ministries included Central Methodist Church in Korea (1993-2000), Kansas Korean United Methodist Church (2000-2002), and Glenwood Park United Methodist Church (2002-2003). After graduating from seminary, Joseph became a full time associate pastor at Korean-Madisonville UMC in Cincinnati, Ohio in 2005. In 2010, he joined Summerside UMC as Senior Pastor. Joseph’s ministerial goal is to show, encounter, and follow the true way in the name of Jesus to all people through God-encountering worship, radically shared fellowship, Christ-like discipleship, Spirit-led/gift-oriented ministry and risk-taking outreach. Based on Wesley’s practical divinity, integrating theology and practice holistically, the United Methodist Church has taught him what a biblical way of ministry looks like.
Joseph is married to Esther, also a graduate of Methodist Theological Seminary in Seoul. They are parents of three children; Joshua, Julia and Jeremy. Other than spending time with his students, he enjoys basketball and badminton and playing musical instruments. If you have any prayer requests or questions, you can e-mail him at email@example.com

De Anna’s long history of working with children in a church setting began in high school where she taught a Sunday school class of wiggly 3-year-olds. It was then she found her calling as a Vacation Bible School music leader which ended up totaling well over 25 summers praising the Lord. De Anna earned her BS degree in Communication and Theater from Miami University in 1981 and has earned over 50 hours of continuing education from Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. At SUMC, De Anna taught Sunday school and served as the Children’s Music Leader for many years, producing numerous VBSs, Christmas and Easter programs with the children. She began her professional career as the SUMC Director of Children’s Ministry in 2014, which includes producing the current children’s ministry program, KFC Corral. De Anna makes sure the children have plenty of extra God-centered events to look forward to over the course of the year (Valentine Campout, Blessing of the Animals and Summer Family Fair) and she also makes sure the kids have plenty of opportunities to be the hands and feet of Jesus. The newest of these is The Sunbeam Club, a group of children who share the love of Jesus at nursing homes and facilities for older adults by singing and performing. De Anna also volunteers at a local elementary school helping first graders with their reading skills. She is blessed with a wonderful husband, Jeff, and three beautiful children.
